These people were legitimately showing more signs of damage on their skin. Was this just a cultural phenomenon? Nope.

Was there a genetic component? Or were skins of other shades and genetic makeup having spotting on their skin while living in those countries as well? It turns out, they were! People living in mainland China were culturally more concerned about “age spots” on their skin. Did they have the lightest skin, which wasn’t as good at protecting itself? No. Was there more sun in specific asian countries? No. Only recently did someone truly question why people in some Asian countries were more prone to spots on their skin, but those with a similar genetic makeup in other countries were not having problems with skin spotting. Reducing your exposure to the sun has long been touted as the way to reduce and prevent age spots, sometimes called melasma, or liver spots. We know that UV rays from the sun cause spotting. Pollution: Have you ever seen Asian women walk around with umbrellas to protect their skin from the sun? Have you heard of Asian skin care products that claim to fade spots? Asian skin care has been focused on keeping brown spots off skin for decades. Too much sun can make your skin wrinkly and might even give you skin cancer.

That’s because the sun’s damaging ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays go right through clouds. You need to protect your skin from the sun every day, even when it’s cloudy. If too much is released, you will see age/sun spots on the skin. It also weakens the walls of the cell walls that release melanin. Ultraviolet light breaks down the skin’s ability to produce collagen. Sun: I feel like anyone with ears today (or eyes to read) knows about the damaging effects of the sun on skin. Why do I need protection against these things? In which case I wouldn’t use it while pregnant.Radiant Defense claims to protect your skin against the “environment”, which actually means sun, pollution, and damaging light. If you’re applying it like a mascara to your brows it really is probably fine in pregnancy, but a lot of people told me they’re smearing it all over their brow area.

I will update this on occasion, but I’m over talking about this brand. I was very close to just deleting this post, but then I’ll have to explain over and over what happened. I will not answer in other posts, and I will not answer on email. I will not answer any questions about R+F any longer. (I didn’t publish any of them, so don’t go giving side eye to anyone currently in the comments, they were fine.)

This has NEVER happened with any other brand. Oh, and by the way, most of these people were beyond rude and calling me horrible names. As soon as this was announced (and before any changes were made to their website), I had about 10 people commenting on this post, wanting to know if products were safe. Yes, they recently updated a bunch of formulas.
